About Me
Hi. I’m JD. A non-standard web designer currently employed with Hilton Hotels in Memphis, TN. I also run an after-hours web and design firm called Torque Design Shop.
Raised in Farmerville, LA, I earned my undergraduate degree in English from Millsaps College in Jackson, MS. As a creative writer, I learned design out of necessity: I was drafted to be Editor of Stylus, the Millsaps literary magazine, and I was determined it would look good, so I learned Quark. It’s all been uphill since then.
After college, I worked for the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians in their PR department, then I moved to Memphis to marry Katie, who recently graduated from The University of Memphis with her Master of Arts in Economics and took a job with the City of Germantown.
When I’m not working, I’m reading. I read about technology and business, I keep up with hospitality trade mags, I read poetry and short stories (not much of a novel guy), and I cruise blogs on every topic.
Along with Tony White, I co-founded CSS Off, a markup, CSS and design contest for web professionals.
